Wedding entertainment
that gets every generation dancing

Music quiz, first dance under the sparklers, transitions that read the room: this is how I build a party your guests will still be talking about in ten years.

How a successful evening typically unfolds

Every wedding is unique, but an evening that works follows a common thread. Here is how I orchestrate yours — and if you want the full details, I have written an hour-by-hour running order :

  • 4 pm — Non-religious ceremony. Discreet sound, the music of your most beautiful moments, microphones for the officiants and readings.
  • 6 pm — Cocktail hour. Lounge and jazzy mood outdoors, volume kept in check so conversations can flow. And for the liveliest groups, dancing can start as early as the cocktail — some of my weddings have opened the dance floor before dinner!
  • 8:30 pm — Entrance into the room. I get the whole room on its feet on the mic and form a guard of honour : you do not walk in in front of your guests, you walk in among them. Cold sparklers optional. It is the first highlight of the evening.
  • 9 pm — Dinner with entertainment. Background music suited to each course, activities between services: music quiz, quiz about the couple, speeches from the witnesses.
  • 11 pm — First dance. Your first dance, enhanced by cold sparklers or a low-lying cloud of fog.
  • 11:15 pm → the end — Dance floor. I read the room and adapt: 80s for the parents, 2000s for the friends, shatta and afro to finish in a blaze of fireworks.
The guard of honour in real conditions: the whole room standing, cold sparklers on either side.

The music quiz: the game that brings everyone together

My secret weapon for breaking the ice between the two families: a music quiz played by table teams, with excerpts chosen for every generation. Within twenty minutes, the 70-year-old aunt and the 20-year-old cousin are singing the same song — and the dance floor is won in advance.

“The music quiz was brilliant, and the karaoke so funny. Thank you for making this the best night of our lives.”

The first dance, your signature moment

A rehearsed choreography, a surprise medley or a classic slow dance: we build it together beforehand. And for the wow factor, cold sparklers (usable indoors once approved by the venue) or low-lying fog that turns the dance floor into a cloud. It is THE photo your photographer is waiting for.

“He offered on his own initiative to produce the mix for our flash mob, which was a real success.”

The activities that work (and the ones I avoid)

What works: the music quiz by tables, the quiz about the couple, a fresh take on the 12-months game, and dedications secretly prepared with the witnesses. What I advise against: games that make guests uncomfortable, activities that drag on and break the rhythm of the meal, and a microphone passed around with no framework. My role: energy, never embarrassment.

And sometimes, karaoke. At the very end of the night, when only the die-hards are left on the floor, it sometimes turns into karaoke: I bring out my two microphones and the dance floor becomes a stage. It is not a service I sell with a screen and a song catalogue — it is a moment that arises on its own, when the group is warmed up and it is three in the morning. I let it come; I never force it.

Glow sticks bearing the couple’s names: a simple idea, handed out at the right moment, that gets three generations on their feet at once.
The inflatable shark: this kind of idea cannot be planned, it comes from the guests. My role is to see it coming and give it the track that goes with it.

👉 To know precisely which music to plan and at what moment, I have written a complete guide: planning your wedding playlist, moment by moment.

Your playlist in one clickPaste the link of your Spotify, Apple Music or Deezer playlist: all your tracks are retrieved, with artwork and previews. You can also search for and listen to other tracks before adding them.
Your key moments, one by oneCocktail hour, dinner, party, end of the night: you file each track under the right moment and mark your must-plays ★. I check technical feasibility and prepare the edits.
Your do-not-playsA track or an artist you really do not want to hear? You flag it, and I will not play it.
The running order of the big dayHour by hour, one instruction and one piece of music per step: entrance into the room, first dance, cake… You choose, I prepare every cue.

The moments we settle together:

  • Non-religious ceremony
  • Reception entrance
  • First dance
  • Cake music
  • Bouquet toss
  • Saucisson toss
  • Speeches and surprises
  • End of the night

The saucisson tossis the South-West tradition I hold dear: it always gets a laugh and it deserves its own music, just like the bouquet toss. Every detail counts, and preparing it in advance is what gives you an evening that flows on its own.

10 wedding entertainment ideas that really work

Here are the entertainment ideas I suggest most often, tried and tested over many weddings and events in Gironde. They all have one thing in common: they bring the two families together without ever making anyone feel uncomfortable.

1. The music quiz by tablesMy flagship activity. Teams by table, excerpts from every decade, 20 minutes flat. The couple can offer a gift to the winning table — it multiplies the involvement.
2. The quiz about the coupleTen questions prepared in secret with the witnesses. “Who said I love you first?” The guests vote, the couple answer on the mic. Guaranteed laughter.
3. Surprise dedicationsEach loved one chooses a track and a message for the couple. I play them over the course of the evening with a word on the mic. Emotion guaranteed without breaking the rhythm.
4. The 12-months game, revisitedA short, modern version of the great classic: one song per month of the year, the guests concerned come and dance. A simple way to fill the floor in five minutes.
5. The first dance under the sparklersCold spark machines (usable indoors once approved by the venue) or low-lying cloud smoke. It’s the shot your photographer waits for all evening.
6. The witnesses’ flash mobA choreography prepared beforehand by your loved ones, to a medley I edit to measure. Maximum surprise effect for the couple.
7. Supervised karaokeTwo or three well-chosen tracks, no more, at a precise moment of the evening. Supervised, it is a cult moment. Left to run free, it empties the floor.
8. The battle of the generationsUnder-35s against over-35s, each with their own track, the crowd votes by applause. Simple, quick, devastatingly effective.
9. The entrance medleyYour show-style entrance, prepared together: custom edit, synchronised lighting effects, timing coordinated to the minute with the caterer.
10. The live photo wallGuests send their snapshots during the evening and they appear on the video projector between activities. It circulates, it makes people laugh, it brings people together.

All these activities adapt to your theme and your crowd: I have country, disco, 80s, Latin, afro or 100% French versions. We choose together at the preparation meeting, about a month before the big day.

And the ones you invent yourselves

The best activity is not always on the list. At this wedding, the couple had prepared a prize draw: each guest dropped their name into an urn during the cocktail hour, and I drew the winners on the mic between two tracks. They imagined the game, I hosted it. It cost nothing extra, and it is what their guests still talk about.

If you have an idea in mind, tell me beforehand: I take care of the microphone, the sound and the moment it lands in the evening. That is often what turns a good idea into a memory.

How much does wedding entertainment cost in Bordeaux?

It is the first question every couple asks me. The honest answer: it depends. The number of guests, the length of the evening, the venue and its technical constraints all affect the service. Rather than displaying a figure that would fit nobody, I prefer to build a proposal tailored to you — free and within 24 hrs. Here is what each of my two packages includes.

PackageWhat is included
Evening PackageDance party only, up to 7 hrs on site (excluding cocktail hour and dinner): sound system, lighting, personalised playlist, coordination on the day
EssentialCocktail hour + dinner + party: indoor and outdoor sound, lighting, activities, supplier coordination, exclusive presence

Where I work in the Gironde and Nouvelle-Aquitaine

I travel across the whole Gironde at no extra charge, and beyond on quotation. I have played weddings at Château Pape Clément, at Château La Garde, at Domaine de Conseillant, at Manoir Saint Gervais, at Domaine de Larchey in Saucats, as well as in many village halls and wine cellars across the Médoc, the Entre-deux-Mers and the Arcachon Bay.

Bordeaux and its metropolitan area (Mérignac, Pessac, Talence, Bègles, Villenave-d’Ornon, Bruges, Cenon, Floirac, Lormont), the Arcachon Bay, the Médoc, the Libourne area, the Sauternes area, as well as Dordogne, Landes, Charente and Lot-et-Garonne. Every venue has its constraints — sound limiter, timings, access, outdoors or a stone wine cellar — and I systematically anticipate them during a technical visit or a conversation with the venue before the big day.

Why choose a wedding-specialist DJ in Bordeaux?

DJing a wedding has nothing to do with DJing a club. You have to coordinate with the caterer, the photographer and the venue, keep to a tight schedule, handle the unexpected with a smile, and get four generations dancing on the same floor. After more than 100 events in the Gironde — from Château Pape Clément to village halls in the Médoc — it has become my speciality.

Frequently asked questions about wedding entertainment

How do we choose the music for the key moments of the wedding?

Which activities do you offer during a wedding?

Music quiz by tables, quiz about the couple, surprise dedications, a fresh take on the 12-months game, the witnesses’ flash mob, supervised karaoke and the battle of the generations. All are included in my packages at no extra charge, and adapted to your theme and the age of your guests.

How much does a wedding DJ and host cost in Bordeaux?

The rate depends on the package chosen, the number of guests, the length of the evening and the venue. I prepare a free, personalised quote within 24 hrs, with no obligation. A 30% deposit confirms the booking; the balance is paid on the day.

When should you book your wedding DJ?

Idéalement 12 à 18 mois avant la date. Les samedis de mai à septembre partent en premier. Indiquez-moi votre date et votre lieu : je vous confirme personnellement ma disponibilité sous 24 heures.

How do you get every generation dancing?

By reading the floor rather than running a fixed playlist. I start broad and unifying, then adjust through the evening according to who is dancing. The music quiz at the start of the meal breaks the ice between the families and makes the dance floor much easier afterwards.

Are cold sparklers allowed indoors?

Yes. They are cold sparkler machines, with no flame or heat, certified for indoor use. I always check with the venue before the big day.

Do you offer a preparation meeting?

Yes, a full meeting about a month before the wedding, by video call or on site. There we build the running order, the activities, the first dance and the playlist. You also have access to a dedicated app to prepare your music in advance.

Do you work outside the Gironde?

Yes, in Dordogne, the Landes, Charente and Lot-et-Garonne, on quotation. Travel anywhere in the Gironde is free of extra charges.
