Why it matters

A DJ who already knows your venue means less stress

This is not a trophy list. It is useful information when you choose your supplier.

When I have already worked at an estate, I know where the power connects, whether the sound limiter cuts out at 95 decibels, how long unloading takes, whether the room echoes and at what time the neighbours become sensitive. So many details that do not show in the photos and yet decide whether an evening succeeds.

And when I do not yet know the venue, I go about it differently: a call to the manager, a site visit if possible, precise questions about the available power and the timings. The result is the same — I never discover a place on the day itself.

Cocktail hour at Château Pape Clément, in Pessac. Providing sound in a château garden takes more equipment than a room: the sound has no wall to bounce off.

Your venue is not on the list? That is not a problem — it is actually the most common case. Just tell me where you are getting married: I contact the venue, check the technical constraints and confirm everything to you before you sign anything.

Add to that six receptions held directly at the couple’s home, under a marquee or in the family garden. They are often the most beautiful, and technically the most demanding: everything has to be created, from the power supply to the lighting.

Before every event

What I always check

The five points that make an evening run smoothly — or stop at midnight.

  • The sound limiter. More and more venues are fitted with one. If it cuts the power above a threshold, better to know before setting up, and adapt the equipment rather than suffer cut-outs all night.
  • The power supply. The number of sockets, their location, and above all the power actually available. Outdoors, it is the first sticking point.
  • The permitted end time. It varies from one venue to another and shapes the whole construction of the evening. I prefer to know it in advance to place the highlights at the right moment.
  • Access and unloading. A staircase, a gravel path or an enclosed courtyard completely change the set-up time. I arrive accordingly.
  • The acoustics of the room. A stone barn, a vaulted wine cellar and a modern village hall are not amplified the same way. The adjustment is made on site, never left to chance.

These checks are included in my service, whatever the venue. They are invisible, but they are what makes the difference between a smooth evening and one that is patched together.

Outdoor non-religious ceremony at an estate: flower-lined aisle, rows of chairs and an arch facing the palm trees
An open-air ceremony, at an estate in the South-West. Outdoors, the sound has nothing to bounce off: you need two speaker points, placed before the guests take their seats.
